="Tara has put together a beautiful collection of both (non-interventive) assisted and unassisted birth stories. She also shares her thoughts on how to achieve an unhindered birth. I highly recommend it." ~ Laura Shanley
=Unassisted Birth/Freebirth says,....."Great book. I haven't finished reading it yet, but I love the stories about her births, her surrogacy and UC, and the other stories that are just so real and un-sugar-coated. Once I get caught up I'm going to finish it and post my own review, but this is just too good to pass up!
=Your burst of confidence and wisdom was exactly what I needed... I birthed my breech baby in water at my midwife's home (will explain that later, chose her home due to some risk factors and her proximity to better hospital facilities if need be) about 16 hours after receiving your encouragement! I am woman... hear me ROAR! Julie Orris Kosker
= Tara has a gift for empowering people to access their innate personal power and wisdom. Her expertise, confidence, and ease is magnetic and reassuring. Dr. Zohra Campbell, D.C.
= Reading Birth Unhindered will move women towards making informed decisions that will impact their birth experience by replacing fear with knowledge thus increasing confidence. This leads towards a positive birth experience. Carol Severson LDM,CPM,CMA
= Birth Unhindered will inspire women to believe in themselves and what their body was made to do. Brandi McDaniel, home-schooling mother of three.
= When you meet Tara in her writing, you have an instant friend who walks you through the practical steps of the pregnancy and birthing process. Tara is able to, in a fun and entertaining way, teach me fundamentals I thought I knew. Birth Unhindered will guide you with tips, tools, and techniques helpful to have a joyful pregnancy and birth experience. This book has helped me and my practice 110%. Thank you, Tara! Excerpts
Its July, 2003 and my body is round and full of baby. I am feeling ready to meet this little one. I've begun my pre-labor workout and we are wondering when the day will be. We have had a few hopeful days that only turn into restful nights and mornings of empty arms. I go back and forth in my mind if I should help things along by encouraging labor, or wait and trust that God is in control. Babies know when to be born. After two and a half weeks of having contractions and fighting and wanting to be in control, I have surrendered to the process.
It is the night of the 15th and I am having contractions that I am sleeping through. As morning comes, it is 3:30 AM and I can no longer sleep through them as my back is hurting very much. 4 AM and I get up and go out onto the couch to see what happens. Contractions keep coming and feel like real labor. I am wondering and hopeful that today is the day! Could it be that I will be holding my babe this very day? I wake Kent and tell him we need to begin filling the birth tub. This takes several hours. Resting on the couch some more, contractions become stronger and I am beginning to believe that this is it........
The baby's head comes and we call for the children just as the bag of waters bursts, propelling baby into mine and dad's hands. Surprised by the speed, we pull her to my chest. HER?!......
Now, I have no doubt that there isnt anything in life that I cannot do. This is what every woman deserves. My baby. My body. My way.
